VISAKHAPATNAM: Senior officials of the AP government and AP Med Tech Zone (AMTZ) organised an investors meet at Medica, one of the world’s leading trade fairs for medical industry, at Dusseldorf in Germany, earlier this week.
According to AMTZ officials, a large number of companies from India as well as from other countries took part in the investors meet. The AP delegation led by principal health secretary Poonam Malakondaiah and AMTZ CEO Jitendar Sharma briefed investors about the proposed medical devices manufacturing facility in Vizag. AMTZ officials said it would provide capital intensive scientific facilities required by most medical device manufacturers and 180-200 modern independent manufacturing units of various sizes ranging from 0.25 acre, 0.5 acre and 1 acre.
AMTZ would also include facilities such as component testing centre, electro-magnetic interference laboratory, medical grade low vacuum molding, cabinet melting, 3D designing and printing for medical grade products among others.
AMTZ CEO Jitendar Sarma said the response from the industry has been encouraging and added that 10 per cent of the proposed factories have already been booked since October 2, when the bids started. He said AMTZ has received applications from some of the largest companies involved in medical devices manufacturing.
