Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), India’s 1st integrated medical devices manufacturing park coming up in Visakhapatnam, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Medikabazaar for enabling access to demand-supply of medical equipment through digital channels. The MoU was signed by Dr. Jitendar Sharma, CEO, AMTZ and Vivek Tiwari, CEO, Medikabazaar.
This MoU enables manufacturers at AMTZ with access to the Medikabazaar platform which is an online aggregator of medical supplies enabling procurement and purchase of medical supplies beyond geographical boundaries. The MoU which was signed during the Medicall Mumbai 2017 event facilitates manufacturers at AMTZ with access to demand and supply transactions of medical equipment through the digital medium.
Medikabazaar is India’s largest online aggregator of medical supplies, offering a host of benefits and services to hospitals, medical establishments and consumers. It not only offers medical supplies but also provides the customer with easy access to newly developed technologies all over the world as well as comparison options based on product features and prices.
AMTZ which is a ‘One-Stop- Solution’ for medical device manufacturing aims to reduce the cost of manufacturing up to 40% and simplify the end-to- end operations. AMTZ also include facilities such as electro-magnetic interference laboratory, 3D designing and printing for medical grade products, X-ray tube and radiation testing centre, rapid prototyping centre, metal molding and metal finishing centre, warehousing and regulator’s office.
AMTZ recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) for accelerating medical device innovation and commercialization within the country.
Startups in the field of medical technology which are part of the IITB incubator programme will also benefit from the large integrated ecosystem being provided by AMTZ. This partnership will contribute positively towards the development of the overall medical technology ecosystem in the country.
AMTZ also has the distinction of becoming the second Indian park to become a full-time member of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP). With AMTZ becoming a member of IASP, new business opportunities for companies and research organisations located within AMTZ and in Andhra Pradesh will be enhanced. This will also be a boost for development and growth of areas of innovation.
IASP is a membership-based global network for science parks and areas of innovation to drive growth, innovation and effectiveness. Headquartered at Málaga, Spain, IASP is headed by Josep Miquel Piqué as its President and Luis Sanz as the Director General.
Incorporated on 30 April 2016, AMTZ is an enterprise under the Government of Andhra Pradesh, a 270 acre zone, dedicated for medical device manufacturing.
