For better understanding of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) among manufacturers and innovators, an International Fellowship programme on Health Technology Assessment is going to be conducted in Andhra Pradesh Med Tech Zone (AMTZ) at Vishakhapatnam, between January 9, 2017 and January 13, 2017.

HTA is a multi-disciplinary field that examines the clinical, economic, social and ethical implications of medical technologies. It refers to the process of using existing evidence to evaluate the clinical effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and broader impact of a health technology on patients and the healthcare system.

HTA is an internationally active field and has seen continued growth. It has also been advanced by the evolution of methods including clinical epidemiology and health economics and acts as a bridge between the world of research and decision-making process.

The five day Fellowship on Health Technology Assessment is 7th in series. The program will offer sessions by expert faculty in the subject of Systematic Reviews, Economic Analysis and Medical Technology Evaluation. The fellowship is useful for hospitals/healthcare program managers, innovators, professionals and providers in healthcare, health economists, students pursuing public health management and health biomedical and clinical engineers.

HTA is required for selection of interventions that improve healthcare delivery, conceptualization, recommendations and selection of health technologies, harm benefit assessment through an integrated patient safety approach and developing economic models by understanding basics of health economics.

Innovation and the actual needs of the health-care system should be linked more closely. Innovative products that provide the most value for investment must be identified and their manufacturers should be supported with appropriate and high investment facilities that could reduce the cost manufacturing. They should also be support with evidence based and outcome centric knowledge on products and technologies.

AMTZ is India’s first ultra modern medical equipment manufacturing zone with state of art 250+ manufacturing units along with scientific laboratories critical to medical technology production. The goal of this progressive initiative would be to encourage medical technology innovators scale new heights by providing them with appropriate and strategic avenues with an aim to improve access to healthcare.
