Our goal to become self-reliant can be accomplished by adopting the AMTZ model, not just in medical devices sector but also in other strategic areas too.”

With Covid-19 outbreak, the country was totally dependent on import for COVID diagnostic kits for testing its citizens. AMTZ stepped in and was able to fulfil the need to a very large extend. Close to 60 percent of the first 5 lakh tests conducted in India was done with kits that had AMTZ’s name on it. Impressed by the response, Shri Piyush Goyal was generous in his praise for AMTZ and the people behind it serving the national cause.

Before World Health Organization (WHO) spoke of a global shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), India had no PPE coveralls suitable for COVID 19 in the country. Though hospitals had routine supply for testing H1N1 & HIV, nobody in the world had anticipated such an outbreak. The entire requirement was being met through imports. It is never easy to produce and meet the humungous requirement when the country is put under a lockdown, workers worried about their safety, shortage in raw materials and transport a logistical nightmare. But AMTZ did!
